Sandra Ilene West was married into a wealthy ranching family from West Texas. Her husband Ike West was found dead in a Las Vegas hotel room in January 1968. Sandra then moved to Beverly Hills where she experienced life in the fast lane. The West family was from Vanderbilt Texas and had extensive holdings in West Texas including the West Ranch which is very near the Ratliff Family's Reata Ranch.
Sandra's will requested her brother-in-law, Sol West to bury her in her 1964 powder blue Ferrari 330 America. She was to be wearing a lacy nightgown and the seat was to be reclined at a "comfortable" angle.
There was controversy from the fact that in addition to the 330 she owned a 250GTO which people have speculated that she was burried in. Most of the articles I have read reference the GTO but confirm she was buried in the 330.
The car was to be encased in wood, steel, and concrete (they say two truckloads). In order to make this happen, Sandra's will stated that Sol would get over $2,000,000 if the wishes were carried out. If not he would get $10,000. After going to court to try and get out of it, Sol was obliged to bury his sister in law in her car. The car and Mrs. West are in a 9 foot deep h*** filled with car, concrete, etc. in Alamo Masonic Cemetery at San Antonio, Texas.
The simple grave marker does not give a clue to what is underneath. Here are some pics as well
